We have a used Transistorized switching module (TSM) just pulled out of a fully functional APC Silcon 40 KVA UPS System in Excellent Condition.
The power switch TSM is designed as 2 individual 3-phase inverters (main & delta inverter) intended for use in DP300E, 3-phase UPS system.
The TSM operates as an electronically controlled low loss power switch, and consists of the following units:
1 Main inverter IGBT *modules V001 - V003
2 Main inverter driver DR02
3 Delta inverter IGBT module V130
4 Delta inverter driver DR01
5 Filter PCB for main & delta inverter FILT
6 Crowbar thyristor V004
7 DC electrolytic capacitors C001 - C004
8. Heat sink and other mechanics
*) IGBT = Insulated gate bipolar transistor
The main inverter consists of 3 identical half bridge IGBT modules V001 - V003 Each of the 3 modules are internally isolated from the heat sink, and each module consists of 2 IGBT's and 2 freewheeling diodes. The PWM output from the 3 IGBT modules is passed through the filter PCB, where a current measurement takes place.
The driver unit, DR02, takes care of the following functions:
A. Gives galvanic isolation (Opto coupler) between control signals and power electronics. (IGBT's)
B. Galvanic isolated power supplies the driver circuits.
C. Supplies IGBT V001 - V003 with control signal. (+/- 15V) for safe turn ON and turn OFF.
D. Protection of the power transistors in case of overload by means of current sensing technique with Hall sensors. (The Hall sensors are placed on the filter PCB)
The delta inverter consists of a six-pack IGBT module V130, which is internally isolated from the heat sink. This module consists of 6 IGBT's and 6 freewheeling diodes and form a complete 3 phase inverter bridge. The PWM output from this module is led directly to the 3 connectors X001 to X003, on the Delta inverter driver DR01.
The delta inverter driver unit, DR01 is mounted directly on the IGBT module V130 and soldered to the terminals. The main functions of DR01 are the same as for DR02, in addition the delta inverter driver contains the following functions:
A. Hall sensors for overload protection and regulation of mains current.
B. Resistors for sensing the 2 DC voltages.
C. Trigger circuit for the crowbar thyristor
D. Output filter capacitors.
E Hall sensors for measuring of the main inverter current.
F. Resistors for sensing of inverter output voltage.
G. DC decoupling capacitors for the main inverter IGBT's.H. Inverter output fuses.
